New To The Board
by exjdub ini just wanted to introduce myself and tell everyone that i have enjoyed many of the posts.
i wish that this resource was available 7 years ago when i walked away from the organization, it would have helped my transition a great deal.
i also wanted to say that it is enjoyable to come to a forum that is not on an angry rant about the organization on a constant basis.

I don't believe in placing blame. Trust in God's providence, things, good and bad, happen so that we can learn from them and improve ourselves.
I like another poster, feel my parents who brought me up in the org are victims too (an it appears my sister will be a baptised victim soon too)

I think Hot Cross Buns are made for Good Friday (not part of Easter but the Triduum). Sort of a fast from meat and other stuff.

Sorry about that, here I go again, the summarized version:
When I was about 10-12 years old I wanted to be baptised. I went through all the questions in the green book and thought it was a done deal. But I was wrong, the elders weren't going to let me be baptized because I did not spend enought time in the FS. i was devastated at the time, but this event gave me the distinct ability to question things and cirumstances.
I went through a study of religions, from the Buddhist Scriptures to the Early Church Fathers and I found a religion that I liked: Catholicism. I know that many people are against Catholicism and its theology, but I agree with it and the spirituality suits me very well.
This Easter Vigil (Sat. 10th, 9pm-1am), I will be receiving the Sacrament of Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist. I've prepared a long time for this and I have been attending the actual mass since November, catechism lessons since september. Even my parents know that I've been going to a Catholic Church, been suprisingly cool with it, and tonight I'm going to tell them that I am going to be a baptised Catholic.

"Jehovah" was the magic word wasn't it? Just say it and nothing bad will happen to you.
I always watched TV people thought was demonized; I mean, in Canada, you can't have a normal life if you don't. Has anyone noticed how JWs watch as violent and pornographic shows as anyone else as long as they don't contain anything to do with religion, spiritism, et cetera? Maybe it was only in my area.

for me it was the 144,000 and the nature of christ's resurrection.
i seriously could not believe that there were two classes of christians when it was not stated implicitly in the bible, but was expected to be believed in as absolute truth.

Rescinding Baptismal Status?

Who cares if your or my name is on a master list and persecution comes? If that happens, just explain how you left the org and no longer believe in it. Really, nothing happens without God allowing it to (in a broad sense); I'll take whatever comes and trust in the providence of Him.
